Stutterheim offers a myriad of activities centred round the enjoyment of the magnificent natural surroundings andThe varied and abundant birdlife provide many delightful hours of bird watching, and perhaps even the chance to view the rare and endangered Cape Parrot, which flourishes here. The area is furthermore a fresh water fishing paradise. Close to the magical Gubu Dam and a short drive from the expansive and well stocked Wriggleswade Dam, where other acquatic activities are also on offer.
Historical Places of Interest for the family :-
Visit historical reminders of our German Ancestry, or the remnants of the old Mission Station, being the beginnings of our town. Old engines restored to their former glory are on display (or in operation) at our Stationary Engine Museum. Take a trip along a dusty road to the Mgwali Traditional Xhosa Village and gain insight into the traditions and customs indigenous to our area.
In the wider area there are bushman paintings to view, as well as wild animals in their natural surroundings. |
