Falaza offers a choice of safari experiences on foot, horseback, by game vehicle or on water. Fabled close encounters with hippo, rhino and other fascinating wildlife are regular events for visitors. Rich bird life abounds in settings as diverse as the primordial sand forest or the water wilderness park of the Mzinene River.

Day and night game drives are led by experienced rangers which yield exciting game viewing opportunities. Our highly qualified rangers have a wide knowledge of the rich bird and animal life of the region, as well as the indigenous trees and plants.

An early morning walk through the pri-mordial sand forest of Falaza brings guests into intimate contact with nature. Under the care of competent rangers, guests are often rewarded with unusual sightings of many creatures at close range. These walks are not strenuous and are enjoyed by young and old alike.

For those who enjoy horse riding nothing can compare with the exhilaration of the African bush on horseback.

A leisurely boat cruise on the Mzinene River, affords glimpses of crocodiles and hippos as well as the prolific bird life along the river banks. Whether your choice is a morning cruise or the ever-popular sundowners booze cruise, this is a wild life experience not to be missed.

Tracking rhino on foot, with experience rangers, is a rare and thrilling experience, which provides memorable close encounters with one of Africa’s ‘Big Five’.

Since a teen, Zululand-born Karl-Heinz Booysen has been fascinated with crocodiles, so much so that today his nickname is “Crocodile Impi”. Known to have wrestled 4m-long crocs in transporting them to his domain, Karl-Heinz’s crocodile nursery is located at Falaza Game Park - False Bay on the far-northern banks of Lake St. Lucia World Heritage Site and it is here that he introduces guests to the world of the Nile Crocodile … which incidentally loves a stomach rub.

Additional excursions in close proximity to Falaza include the Hluhluwe Game Reserve; St Lucia World Heritage Site; the Cheetah Breeding Centre; Farm Tours; Whale watching in season; Freshwater or Deep Sea Fishing; a Beach visit to either Sodwana or St Lucia; the Zulu Village Cultural Experience or traditional Craft Market; or a boat trip on Lake St Lucia.

On site, indulgence awaits guests selecting one of the treatment plans in the advanced facilities nestled amongst the indigenous foliage of the Spa at Falaza Game Park. Physical and mental relaxation and revitalization for men and women alike are combined in a tranquil environment with specialized treatments. French Thalgo products using active marine ingredients selected for their efficiency and gentleness are complemented by exotic local Theranake African herbal infusions to provide an innovative, sense-soothing body safari.

From traditionally inspired foot cleansing treatments, to advanced skin and body treatments, in addition to a full range of massages and holistic spa treatments Falaza’s Spa offers pampering of mind, body and soul.
Prior to treatments guests are made comfortable by changing into a robe and taken to the relaxation area for a traditional “izinyawo” cleanse (foot gift). The feet are bathed in a bowl of warm water with a blend of juniper, tangerine and blue mountain sage. Once cleansed the feet are wrapped in a cool, rejuvenating and softening foot mask.

Falaza Game Park and Spa is a 1 hour drive from Richards Bay, a 3 hour drive from Durban or a 5 hour drive from Johannesburg. Transfers can be arranged from Durban International Airport and Richards Bay Airport on your behalf.

Daily scheduled flights are available from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport to Richards Bay Airport by SA Express Airlines. Soon, direct flights from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport to Hluhluwe will be introduced. Private chartered aircraft can land at the grass strip at Hluhluwe village.
