The 5-star Impodimo Game Lodge is set along a rocky ridge within the 75 000 hectare Madikwe Game Reserve, commanding breathtaking views of the savanna and unique topography.
Impodimo is also located at the source of a natural spring, which provides the lodge with elevated views as well as riverine serenity. The lodge offers dawn and dusk safaris, which are carefully timed to ensure optimal seasonal comfort. The reserve has a huge diversity of flora, together with excellent birdlife and the Big 5 (elephant, leopard, lion, buffalo and rhino), cheetah, brown hyena, spotted hyena, giraffe and many species of antelope.

Sharing all the wonders that an African game reserve has with children is one of the pleasures that the Impodimo team treasures. The safety of children on safari is of paramount importance to our staff and for this reason we reserve the right to limit children's participation on safaris designed to bring you, the parent, close to big game. For this reason we have created the concept of the 'bush bumble' where we encourage parents to join their children on a game drive designed to focus on the little things.
The ‘bush bumble’ is available at normal game drive times for children under 6 years of age.
Children between 6 – 12 years will be permitted on the guest game drives at the sole discretion of the ranger.
Children aged 16 years or older may participate on the bush walks at the sole discretion of the ranger, and as per the park regulations.
A maximum of 2 children under 12 years will be accommodated with adults. The child rate is 50% of the adult sharing rates.
Babysitting is available at R 30.00 per hour.
Tailor-made children’s programmes and full time nannies are also available.
Whilst Impodimo has 10 suites, its capacity is 16 guests. Carved from the hillside, these glass fronted luxury chalets line a natural spring and have been carefully positioned to ensure absolute privacy. Spacious in design, each suite includes a closed system fireplace, climate control air conditioner, mini bar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and full en-suite bathroom with bath and indoor shower. Your private deck and outside shower offer striking views of the Madikwe Game Reserve.
The lodge offers a selection of indoor and outdoor dining areas, with Bush dining being subject to availability. Enjoy alfresco breakfasts, lunches on the pool deck and dinner in the boma around a roaring log fire under a canopy of stars.
The owner / manager team of Steve and Debbie are ideally suited to tailoring the most memorable safari experience - whilst Steve is a highly qualified expert ranger, Debbie adds impressive culinary qualifications to the team.
The lodge features a magnificent pool which overlooks the active water hole, a well-stocked library, lounge, TV lounge with DSTV, curio shop, wine cellar, boma, Internet and fax facilities and viewing sala. The lodge enjoys spectacular vistas extending as far as the eye can see. Your choice may be to visit in summer and laze on the pool deck with a chilled chardonnay, or maybe a winter safari where you can choose to retire to the library with a cognac or stoke the fire in your suite. Both experiences ensure magnificent star gazing before drifting away with vivid images of unrestricted close encounters with Africa’s big game.
Rise in the morning to an African dawn and enjoy an early morning game drive with your dedicated professional ranger and qualified Shangaan tracker. Relax as your ranger guides you through the bush on a custom made open 7-seater Landrover, searching out the Big 5 or the smaller secrets of nature. Or set out on a foot safari with your armed ranger and learn the secrets of tracking African game whilst enjoying the trees, birds and stunning scenery.
Return from the excitement of the bush to a sumptuous breakfast or brunch and then relax at the pool or the sala overlooking the waterhole where game may come to quench their thirst. In the afternoon, when the heat of the African sun has diminished and the shadows are longer, head out again on a sundowner safari, where you will stop to watch the sun set on this bushveld paradise and enjoy your favourite sundowner drink.
Once the sun has set and darkness descends, set off again for a night safari where the more nocturnal creatures now rule the bush. Return to the lodge where you will be treated to the finest Pan-African cuisine with your hosts in the open air boma, and share your day’s adventures, while you enjoy a night cap around the fire.
This is a typical day here at Impodimo where your safari experience will unfold. All our rangers are highly qualified and experienced, and undergo regular evaluations and ongoing training to ensure that they are up to our very high standards.
Impodimo has Public Liability Insurance and offers its guests Medical Evacuation when necessary. Qualified First Aiders are available on site and the nearest doctor and hospital is in Zeerust which is 90 km away.
Impodimo is approximately 4 hours from Johannesburg or Pretoria by vehicle. Air travel is offered by Madikwe Charters on a daily basis from Johannesburg International Airport and the flying time is 55 minutes. |

Rate Inclusions:
• All rates are in South African Rands and include VAT. Where applicable, tourism levies / conservation levies or entrance fees are not included.
• Children are considered to be under the age of 12, and child rate applies when sharing with two adults.
• All meals, teas/coffees and snacks and accommodation.
• Daily open vehicle safaris and walks.
Rate Exclusions:
• Bar, curio purchases, laundry, tourism levy and telephone charges.
Terms & Conditions:
* Children under the age of 6 are not permitted on Game drives, children between the ages of
6 and 12 are permitted on game drives at the sole discretion of the ranger.
In national parks 16 is the minimum age for walks.
* Children are under the age of 12 and child rate applies when sharing with two adults.
* Bush dinners attract a surcharge and are dependent on the size of the group.
* Impodimo reserves the right to provide alternative dinner arrangements for children
under the age of 12.
* Please note that all guests will be required to sign an indemnity form on arrival.
Cancellation Policy:
1. A 20% non-refundable deposit will be required to confirm a booking, with full payment due
7 days prior to arrival.
2. Bookings cancelled within 45 days of arrival will forfeit their deposit.
3. Bookings cancelled within 30 days of arrival will be required to pay 50% of total invoice value.
4. Bookings cancelled within 15 days of arrival will be required to pay 100% of total invoice value.
